Windows are designed to let light in and create a view form the interior of the home. Given this, why would you want mirrored window film for your home? Let’s take a look.

What is mirrored window film? It is a window film that can be cut to the appropriate dimensions and applied to just about any window. As the name implies, one side is mirrored. Unless you are extremely vain, the mirrored side faces out towards the exterior of the home. The inside of the film is not mirrored. Instead, you can see through it and it looks tinted like the inside of sunglasses. Why would you go with mirrored window film? Let’s take a look.


Developers and architects are interesting individuals. Sometimes they create designs that simply make no sense. I used to live in a home that was two stories. The stairway had a bay window in front of it. The window faced directly into the window for the neighbor’s stairway! While nothing exciting happens in my stairway, there is little doubt that the lack of privacy is somewhat troubling. While I wouldn’t put mirrored window film up in my stairway, the story would be different if the same problem existed in my bedroom or bathroom.

The problem is nobody respects privacy any more and there are some very creepy people out there. Every cell phone is a camera these days, and the number of videos going up on the web should be startling. Ah, but what about taste? Who wants their windows looking like mirrors? Well, you don’t have to sweat it. Many mirrored films now come with designs that make them look like a decorative design. Even straight blank mirrored film is going to reflect the environment around it. Just be wary if you have a lot of territorial birds. They might attack the reflection of themselves!

The lack of privacy these days is something that you should take seriously. Mirrored window film is one way to take back your privacy at home.
