List of Window Manufacturers

There are a huge number of businesses making windows these days. In this article, we take a look at a list of window manufacturers who dominate the market.

Windows are like any product these days. Technology has reached the point where they can be mass produced in materials like fiberglass, vinyl and steel or created custom in wood by expert tradesman. The difference between each used to be very clear, but is less so today. With that in mind, let’s look at the big manufacturers in windows these days.

Anderson Corporation is a huge player in the field. It makes “Anderson Windows”. The company was started in 1903 by a Dane with the last name of Anderson. It is now based in Bayport, Minnesota and is American owned. The company makes over 12 million windows a year via 16 manufacturing facilities. Anderson was once the clear leader in windows, but has been challenged in recent years by Pella and Marvin windows.

Pella is a window and door company. It was established in the 1920s and gets its name from the location of its headquarters – Pella, Iowa. The company is American owned and has grown in leaps and bounds the last 20 years. It manufacturers wood, vinyl and fiberglass windows and has become known for its Energy Star products. In fact, it has been awarded the partner of the year award in the Energy Star program for its energy efficient windows the last two years. The company is considered a leader in green, sustainable construction approaches.

Marvin Windows and Doors is the third big player in windows these days. The company has been in business in Minnesota since 1904, but was originally a lumber company. It wasn’t until 1939 that it started making windows. Marvin is very much a family run operation. The company is known for innovation, but particularly for its made to order program which has made it a huge winner among builders.

No list of window manufacturers will ever be complete as there are many local tradesman that are only known to builders in the area. Still, the above three dominate the general market and offer quality products.
